The Teen Titans, a team of crime fighting super heroes, had enjoyed many years of varied success in multiple DC comic books and more, but it wasn't until their animated show (simply titled "Teen Titans") running from 2003-2006 that we were given their greatest interpretation. Here, we were introduced to a super heroine to join the ranks of the best characters ever conceived: a world-weary half-demon named Raven. There've been many incarnations of Raven before and since, but none are close to the greatness of this one.
Raven. Episode: Troq
Raven was born in a land called Azarath by her mother Arella, and her demon father Trigon. Eventually, Raven left Azarath and came to Earth, where she met Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, and (unfortunately) Beast Boy. The five soon formed the Teen Titans, and though Raven was a little apprehensive at first due to being particularly unsure of herself at this time, her powers over magick have been found as being crucial to the team.
Raven tends to be reclusive, staying mostly by herself meditating or reading. While others are eager to go to a party -- to take an example from the episode "Sisters" -- she only agrees to go when she's told it's at a "creepy, run-down warehouse". Her behavior may appear to boarder on being misanthropic, as suggested by such lines as when she says in regards to babysitting, "Can't someone else do it? Starfire likes people. Or Cyborg...", and though this may be off-putting to some, it's evident that she is indeed capable of caring for others, just not those who go through life goofing off and boisterously flailing around shouting their "Boo-yahs" and such, in which she reflexively provides a much welcomed balance of deadpan, dry humor with sardonic overtones that puts them in their place.
Some may be quick to dismiss her as some spooky rebel to be ignored, but unless you're a moron like Beast Boy or just someone caught up in the irrational mainstream way of life, Raven would make a great friend.
